Hurricanes’ 10th Anniversary | Kaiton’s call of Game 7

Chuck Kaiton is the only radio broadcaster the Hartford Whalers/Carolina Hurricanes franchise has ever known. A delightful and affable guy, Chuck is in the broadcasters’ wing of the Hockey Hall of Fame and has done more to promote hockey, and teach the game, than probably any radio or television broadcaster alive. He’s a walking encyclopedia of hockey knowledge, and one of my favorite all-time hockey-related memories is a two-hour dinner I had with Chuck in Calgary in western Canada in December 2003, picking his brain about hockey history. (Another is a wonderful afternoon spent on the golf course with Chuck and Herald Sports Editor Alex Podlogar and his dad, Gary.)

Many people saw Game 7 – the Hurricanes’ Cup-clincher against Edmonton. But you haven’t really seen it until you turn down the TV volume and listen to Chuck Kaiton’s call of the highlights…
