In Today’s Herald: Taxed and Spent

Our coverage of the discussion of the business privilege tax from Wednesday’s City of Sanford Law & Finance Committee meeting is in today’s Herald, as well as a report about the John Locke Foundation’s opposition to the sales tax proposal that will be on the May ballot. If you’re interested in seeing the JLF “Regional Brief” about the sales tax issue, you can see it here.

BPT: The Business Privilege Tax was discussed briefly at the L&F meeting. Two of the tax’s supporters in last year’s vote, J. D. Williams and Steve Brewer, were absent from the meeting. Linwood Mann, whom I was told was going to also be absent, was there. Not much comment at the meeting, but you can bet there will be at Tuesday’s regular council meeting. You can go to our website to vote in our poll about the BPT here.
