SANFORD — Those wanting to see and hear former President Bill Clinton in Sanford today are urged to arrive early and be patient.
Clinton will speak at an early voting rally at the Mc Swain Agriculture Center, located at 2420 Tramway Road, from 9:15 to 10 a.m. today, to campaign for his wife, presidential candidate and former First Lady Hillary Clinton. According to the official Web site for Hillary Clinton’s campaign, the rally, which is free and open to the public, is part of an early voting promotion tour that also includes stops in Apex, Lillington, Dunn, Hope Mills, Lumberton, and Whiteville.
According to officials at the Mc Swain Center, a big crowd is expected and parking will be limited. Additional parking will be available across the street at the new San Lee Middle School, on the nearby grass at the Worthy House and along the nearby dirt road.
Those parking there should walk around the nearby wheat field and not through it.
When Clinton’s motorcade makes its way into Lee County from Apex, portions of Tramway Road will be closed off. If Clinton’s schedule is not delayed, the road closure is expected to start at 9 a.m. Vehicles will not be permitted to park once the road is closed.
